Inter-Institutional Synergy: Collaboration between Sumatra Humanitarian Volunteers Distributes Aid to Victims of Hydrometeorological Disasters

ACEH – Facing the serious impact of hydrometeorological disasters that hit Aceh and its surrounding areas at the end of November 2025, a number of humanitarian agencies strengthened their efforts. synergy.

Through the Sumatra Humanitarian Volunteer Collaboration Team, logistical aid began to be distributed on a large scale to thousands of affected residents on Sunday (12/14/2025).

This collaboration was initiated by various agencies, including the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), the Association of Disaster Nature Explorers and Conservation of the Universe Forest Generation (GRAS), and Mapala Genetika FP UISU Medan.

This action is also fully supported by the Al-Fakhri Sunggal Islamic Education Foundation, the Galang Subdistrict Youth Organization of Deli Serdang Regency, and the Asahan Regency FPTI.

First Phase Distribution at Critical Points

Team Operations Coordinator Arief Rahman Hakim Harahap explained that the first phase of distribution focused on areas with limited access to basic necessities.

“Praise be to God, the team has successfully distributed logistics to several crucial locations, including Babo Village, Rantau, and three locations in Manyak Payet (Aceh Tamiang Regency), as well as one location in Langsa City,” said Arief.

He emphasized that this assistance was a form of interprovincial solidarity. “Disasters know no boundaries. When Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra were affected, we as volunteers felt it too. This is a mandate from the people to ease the burden of our brothers and sisters,” he added.

Details of Assistance and Logistics Transparency

Logistics and Administration Coordinator Nurhabli Ridwan, who is also the Chairman of GRAS, detailed the various essential aid items that have been distributed. The aid includes not only food, but also sanitation supplies and items specifically for children and women.

The list of aid distributed includes:

  • Food: Rice, instant noodles, mineral water (69 boxes), food packages (70 packs), ready-to-eat meals, and agricultural products such as cassava and bananas.

  • Health & Sanitation: Medicines, toiletries, masks, sanitary napkins, and baby diapers.

  • Clothing: Adult and children's clothing, headscarves, blankets, and footwear.

  • Psychosocial: Doll packages for children in refugee camps.

“We serve as a bridge between donors and the community so that aid can be delivered quickly, accurately, and in response to the most urgent needs,” explained Nurhabli.
